On November 19th Dr. Phil Berkenbile presented a $105,610.32 donation to the Morrison FFA Program on behalf of the Estate of Virginia Eggers.
Virginia Eggers was a long time resident of the Morrison community and was employed at the Noble County Agricultural Stabilization Conservation Service and Farms Service Agency. Virginia and her late husband W.D. Eggers enjoyed spending time going to farm shows, sales, watching FFA students show livestock and attending agricultural seminars.
Virginia loved to support children who had a passion for agriculture and it was only fitting for her to pass on this loving donation to help support the next generation of agriculturalists.
Morrison Secondary School Principal, Mr. Lawson Thompson, was extremely grateful for this donation and organized the presentation of the donation to the Morrison Agriculture Chapter.
"Virginia Eggers' generous donation will serve as a lasting investment in the future of Morrison Agricultural Education, providing students with enhanced opportunities to grow their skills, pursue authentic learning through innovative projects, and become leaders in agriculture and in life. Words cannot truly express our gratitude for this impactful gift and Virginia's heart for agricultural education and Morrison FFA." - Mr. Thompson, Morrison Secondary School Principal
When asked how the Morrison Agriculture Education Department felt about receiving the donation, Ms. Jeanette Furlong responded with,
“First and foremost, Mr. Snapp and I both want to express how grateful we are to Mrs. Eggers and her family for their generous and transformative donation to our program. It is going to change the trajectory of what we can offer our students, and will allow our program to grow in ways that Mr. Snapp and I have only dreamed of. Ensuring the longevity of this donation and the continued success of our program is at the forefront of our minds. We plan to use these funds thoughtfully and
strategically to create lasting impacts for current and future generations of Morrison FFA members, to ensure our program remains a cornerstone of agricultural education in our community for years to come. At the end of the day, it is refreshing and encouraging to know that people believe in the work we're doing as educators and advocates of the future of Oklahoma Agriculture.” - Jeanette Furlong, Morrison Agriculture Education Instructor.
